RH, this is rc.local.

After you have all of your alsamixer settings just the way you
want them, as ROOT run:
alsactl store
This will store you alsamixer settings. Add the following line to
whatever file it is that SUSE automatically runs as the last thing
in line for personal/local settings. On RH XX this would be rc.local.
I do not know what it is on SUSE.
alsactl restore
If you cannot find alsactl, you did not download and compile alsa utils.
