Henry
I designed it myself
see http://members.iinet.net.au/~richardh/VK6BRO.htm
for details.
I have a few boards left
It is the second iteration of the design, but there are still a few
issues which could be improved.
The data interface and the power supply arrangements could be improved -
the current regulator chips run a bit hot at max clock speed (the 9854
chip takes about 600mA at 200 MHz) - I think I will move to a TO220 pack

Hi Richard,
May I ask where you acquired your DDS board?

Dear all
Success at last!
Steps involved
download source svga-1.4.3.tar.gz
copy to /usr/local/src
gunzip
tar
cd svga-1.4.3
make install
(ignore errors)
cp /usr/local/src/svgalib/sharedlib/vgagl.so.1.4.3
/usr/lib/vgagl.so.1 (copy- note vgagl is not at /usr/local/lib and the
links didnt seem to work)
(same for libvga.so.1.4.3)
I tried various linrad distros - rpm didnt work as it couldnt find libvgagl.
Eventually used the source
download bzip2 and install
download linrad01-15 and copy to working directory
bzip2 -xf linrad01-15.tgz
tar -xvf linrad01-15.tar
etc as in instructions
Many thanks for your patience
Now I can start learning all the intricacies of FFTs etc - fascinating!
I have a DDS board using the AD9854 which can give quadrature output to
60 MHz or so.
I will set up a direct conversion I/Q frontend using a "Tayloe"
architecture with the FST3125 quad switch and a couple of opamps.

VK6BRO
I ignored the errors and in fact libvga and libvgagl were in a different
directory

My experience is that I could not get svgalib-1.9.x to work, but
svgalib-1.4.3 would work.
Good luck,

Subject: [linrad] Still problems svga
I am still struggling to get svga installed
I have tried svgalib-1.4.3 and svgalib-1.9.18
gcc seems to generate various errors when it includes various files from
the kernel and main.o will not compile.
I have tried this on Mandrake 9.2 and RH9.0 and two different machines -
kernel 2.4.22 and 2.4.20
Also there was a linker error - ldconfig in the makefile was not
recognized
Has anyone done svga with these latest distros? I am thinking that there
may have been kernel changes since the last version of svga
I could go back to RH 8.0 or even 7.2 if necessary, but this will be a
hassle
Thanks for your patience - at least I am learning something about the
nuts and bolts of Linux!
Richard
