That was the architecture I had in mind when I started looking into
the idea of ham radio DSP on a PC.  I'm thinking "parallelism"
One PC would sample the signal and write the data as UDP datagrams
on the Ethernet.  Other PC(s) could compute FFT and FFT-1.  and yet
one other PC could provide the display either using X11 or
a broswer/java.  I like the FFT library at http://www.fftw.org/
as it is self-optimizing _and_ allows for parallel computation.
