Mario's numbers multiply to 600 so the sampling speed will
be a little higher. I see no reason why that would help,
but if it does I would be very interested to know a little
more about what works and what does not.
You do not by any chance have graphical effects enabled?
(I think it is by default under Ubuntu.)
You might install svgalib and run Linrad in terminal mode.
I do not think you would see any problems then...
