and all was well.  Perhaps autocomplete is tricking you?  Note that if 
you try again, autocomplete only goes as far as 'svgalib-1.4.3' - the 
name of the directory you just untarred.  Make sure you rm -rf the old 
svgalib directory (or type out the full filename)
