Great news from Roger re stock laptops. I had to abandon using
Linrad on my 700 MHz Dell Inspiron 8000 due to chipset
incompatibilities with SVGALIB. I also had audio problems with
another Linux program that even my keen Linux friends couldn't
solve. Winrad seems to run exceedingly well.
Is this Linrad problem common to many laptops or
unique to the 700 MHz Dell Inspiron 8000?
I am curious if many others used the same chipset.
Can you share some of the details of when you did
your experiments, which Linux distros and apps you
tried, and some of what you tried with SVGALIB?
I am using Puppy Linux and some of the guys associated
with that distro seem remarkably able to solve many
challenges!
I don't have the same laptop but would be using an
old IBM Thinkpad 600-series instead.
