I have written a simple program to send commands through the parallel
port to the WSE boxes to set the frequency. It is meant to be run under
Windows 98SE, 2000 or XP. I hope it can prove useful to all those who
are testing the Windows version of Linrad and have the WSE boxes.
Hopefully it works ok, I don't have that hardware (too expensive for my budget),
but looking at the schematics I think to have got it right. And, for good
measure, it has been tested by a couple of OMs who do have the HW...
The program is written using the C++Builder compiler from Borland, which
accepts VCL components. What has been used to allow the parallel port
communication in Win 2000 and XP is a kernel-mode driver, written by
a guy in Pascal adhering to the VCL standards. C++Builder permits to
import, compile and use Delphi 5 (Pascal) VCL components.
Unfortunately I don't think that the mingw compiler used by Leif has that
feature, otherwise that driver could have been also included in Linrad.
